Configuring Element Actions

Element actions define what happens when a visitor interacts with an element, such as a button, text link, or other clickable component.

You can configure an action from the element's Actions setting.

Element actions are useful for creating interactive campaigns, directing visitors to specific pages, moving visitors between campaign steps, or controlling how the campaign is displayed.

For an overview of working with campaign components, see Working with Components.

Configuring an Action

To configure an action:

  1. Select the element on the canvas.
  2. Open its Actions settings.
  3. Choose an action from the dropdown.
  4. Configure any additional options required by the selected action.
  5. Save your campaign when you are finished.

For information about saving your campaign, see Saving and Publishing a Campaign.

Navigating Actions

Available Actions

Do Nothing

Do Nothing means no additional action is performed when the visitor interacts with the element.

Use this when the element does not need to trigger navigation, change the campaign state, or perform another action.

Go to URL

Go to URL takes the visitor to a specified webpage when they interact with the element.

Use this for buttons such as:

  • Shop Now
  • Learn More
  • View Product

Enter the destination URL in the relevant setting.

For example, a promotional button can direct visitors to a product or collection page.

This action can be useful in campaigns created to Promote Products & Special Offers.

Go to URL & Show Step Sticker

Go to URL and show this step's sticker takes the visitor to a specified URL while keeping the campaign step accessible through its sticker.

This can be useful when you want visitors to continue browsing the website while still being able to return to the campaign.

For more information about stickers, see Working with Stickers.

End Campaign

End this campaign finishes the campaign when the visitor interacts with the element.

Use this when the visitor has completed the intended campaign journey or when you no longer want the campaign to be shown to that visitor.

For example, you can use this action after a visitor completes an offer or confirmation step.

Show This Step's Sticker

Show this step's sticker hides the main popup and displays the sticker for the current step.

This is useful when you want to minimize the popup while keeping the campaign available to the visitor.

For example:

Popup → Visitor clicks button → Popup closes → Sticker appears

For more information about configuring stickers, see Working with Stickers.

Reopen This Step from Sticker

Reopen this step from sticker allows the current campaign step to be reopened from its sticker.

This is useful for campaigns where visitors may want to return to an offer or information after closing the popup.

This action can be especially useful when combined with Configuring Campaign Steps.

Change Step

Change step moves the visitor to another step within the campaign.

Use this action to create a multi-step experience.

For example:

Step 1 → Click button → Step 2

You can use this to guide visitors through different stages, such as:

  1. Introduce an offer.
  2. Collect an email address.
  3. Display a confirmation or follow-up message.

For more information, see Configuring Campaign Steps.

You can also learn how to create complete multi-stage experiences in Build Multi-Step Customer Journeys.

Choosing an Action

Choose the action based on the intended visitor experience:

Action Result
Do Nothing No additional action
Go to URL Opens the specified webpage
Go to URL & Show Step Sticker Opens the webpage and shows the step's sticker
End Campaign Ends the campaign
Show This Step's Sticker Hides the popup and shows its sticker
Reopen This Step from Sticker Reopens the step from its sticker
Change Step Moves the visitor to another campaign step

Actions and Campaign Workflows

Element actions control what happens when a visitor interacts directly with a campaign element.

For more advanced visitor targeting and automated campaign behavior, use the Workflow Editor.

Workflows allow you to combine triggers, conditions, and actions to control when campaigns are displayed and how they respond to visitor behavior.

See:

Example: Creating a Multi-Step Campaign

You can combine Change Step with campaign steps to create a guided visitor journey.

For example:

Step 1 — Offer

Display a promotional message and a Get Offer button.

↓

Step 2 — Email Signup

Ask the visitor to provide their email address.

↓

Step 3 — Confirmation

Display a thank-you message or additional offer.

To build this type of campaign, see Configuring Campaign Steps.

  • Use clear CTA text such as Shop Now, Continue, or Get Offer.
  • Check destination URLs before publishing.
  • Use Change Step to create guided multi-step experiences.
  • Use sticker actions when you want visitors to keep access to the campaign.
