Meta Fields Overview

The Meta Fields module allows users to define and manage custom data fields used to track visitor attributes and usage metadata. These fields help in organizing, analyzing, and personalizing user data within the system.

Interface Breakdown

1. Header Section

  • Title: Meta Fields
  • Description:

    “Define custom data fields to track visitor attributes and usage metadata.”

  • Actions:
    • Import – Upload existing meta field configurations.
    • + Add Meta Field – Create a new custom meta field.

2. Navigation Tabs

  • Meta Fields (Active Tab)

    Displays all created meta fields.

  • Rules

    Used to define logic or conditions based on meta fields.


3. Search Bar

  • Search meta fields…

    Allows users to quickly find specific meta fields by name or keyword.


4. Sorting Option

  • Usage: High to Low (Dropdown)

    Sorts meta fields based on how frequently they are used.


5. Main Content Area

  • Displays all existing meta fields in a list or table format.
  • Empty State (as shown in screenshot):
    • Message: “No meta fields yet”
    • Subtext:

      “Create your first meta field to start tracking visitor attributes and usage metadata.”

    • Call-to-action button:
      • Add Meta Field

Key Actions

➕ Adding a Meta Field

  1. Click Add Meta Field.
  2. Enter required details (e.g., name, type, description).
  3. Save the field.
  4. The new field will appear in the list.

📥 Importing Meta Fields

  1. Click Import.
  2. Upload a supported file format (e.g., JSON/CSV depending on system).
  3. Confirm import.
  4. Imported fields will populate the dashboard.

🔍 Searching Meta Fields

  1. Use the search bar.
  2. Type keywords related to the field name.
  3. Results will filter in real-time.

🔽 Sorting Meta Fields

  1. Click the sorting dropdown (e.g., Usage: High to Low).
  2. Select preferred sorting option.
  3. The list updates accordingly.

Use Cases

  • Track user demographics (e.g., age, location)
  • Monitor behavior (e.g., login frequency, feature usage)
  • Store custom attributes for analytics or personalization

Best Practices

  • Use clear and consistent naming conventions.
  • Avoid creating duplicate or redundant fields.
  • Regularly review unused fields to maintain organization.
  • Use the Rules tab to maximize the value of your meta fields.
